  • 1 loaf Pasquier Sliced Brioche
  • 4 tablespoons butter (melted)
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups milk
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon zest
  • 2 cups assorted fresh berries

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cut the brioche into 1-inch cubes and toast them on a baking sheet until lightly golden.
  3. In a large bowl, combine toasted bread with melted butter.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, salt, and lemon zest until well blended.
  5. Lightly grease an 8 x 8 inch baking dish and layer half of the bread cubes followed by half of the berries. Repeat layers.
  6. Pour the custard mixture evenly over the layered bread and berries.
  7. Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes or until set and golden brown.
  8. Allow cooling for at least 20 minutes before serving.
