  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1 and 1/2 cups salted butter
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (for crust)
  • 2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for caramel)
  • Pinch of fine sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9×13 baking pan with nonstick spray and parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, toss sliced apples with lemon juice, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, ground cloves, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Melt salted butter in a large bowl and mix with flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt until combined.
  4. Reserve two cups of the mixture for topping; press the remaining mixture into the prepared pan. Spoon the apple filling evenly over the crust and sprinkle with reserved topping.
  5. Bake for 38 to 45 minutes or until golden brown and apples are tender. Cool completely before slicing.
