Ingredients

  • 2.0 to 2.3 pounds oranges (about 4 medium)
  • 1 lemon (zest and juice)
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 4 cups granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Wash the oranges and lemon thoroughly.
  2. Cut off the ends of the oranges, halve them, and slice each half into quarters. Discard seeds.
  3. In a food processor, pulse the orange pieces until finely chopped.
  4. In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine the pureed oranges, lemon zest and juice, water, and sugar. Stir well.
  5. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to a low boil for about 30-35 minutes until thickened. Test for consistency using the cold plate method.
  6. Pour into jars or containers with lids once cooled and store in the refrigerator.
