  • 1000 grams chuck or braising steak
  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 2 cm fresh ginger, chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 2 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 3 cm cinnamon stick
  • 1 dried bay leaf
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro (plus more for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients by chopping onions, garlic, and ginger.
  2. Optional: Sauté onions, garlic, and ginger in vegetable oil until fragrant.
  3. Transfer all ingredients into the slow cooker: add sautéed aromatics (if used), chuck steak, spices, beef broth, water, cinnamon stick, and bay leaf.
  4. Set the slow cooker on low heat and cook for approximately 8 hours until beef is tender.
  5. Before serving, remove the bay leaf and cinnamon stick, then stir in chopped cilantro.
