  • 1/2 cup milk (any kind)

  • 1 cup powdered sugar (optional icing)
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (or vegan butter, optional icing)
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup (optional icing)
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract (optional icing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, spices, and sugar; whisk well.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until mixture resembles pea-sized pieces.
  4. Stir in molasses and milk until just combined.
