  • 2/3 cup unsalted butter (for frosting)
  • 3–4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (for frosting)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (alcohol-free, for frosting)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (for frosting)
  • 3–5 tablespoons eggnog (for frosting)
  • 1–2 tablespoons cornstarch (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In one bowl, whisk together flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream softened butter with granulated and brown sugars until light and fluffy.
  4. Add egg yolks, vanilla extract, and eggnog to the creamed mixture; blend until smooth.
  5. Gradually incorporate dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for about 10 minutes or until lightly golden around the edges; allow cooling on a rack.
  8. For frosting, beat unsalted butter with powdered sugar, nutmeg, vanilla extract, salt, and eggnog until desired consistency is reached.
  9. Once cooled completely, frost each cookie generously.
