Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 3 large ripe bananas (mashed)
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (room temperature)
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5 loaf pan with non-stick spray and line with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a small bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth.
  4. In another medium bowl, whisk melted butter and brown sugar until combined. Add mashed bananas, sour cream, and vanilla; mix until smooth.
  5. Incorporate eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Gradually fold in dry ingredients until just combined; some lumps are okay.
  6. Gently fold in chocolate chips. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top.
  7. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool for about 10 minutes before transferring to a rack to cool completely.
