  • 1 2/3 cup brown sugar

  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 cups peeled and chopped apples
  • 1 tbsp butter for caramelizing apples
  • 6 oz room temp cream cheese
  • 1/2 stick room temp butter for frosting
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon for frosting
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Prepare the butter by browning it in a saucepan over medium heat. Set aside to cool slightly.
  2. Sauté chopped apples with butter and cinnamon in the same saucepan until tender, then let cool.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together browned butter and brown sugar, then mix in eggs and vanilla.
  4. Combine flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in another bowl. Gradually add to the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Fold in cooled caramelized apples.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and pour batter into a greased baking pan.
  7. Bake for 35-45 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely before frosting.
  8. For frosting, beat cream cheese and butter until creamy; gradually add powdered sugar, cinnamon, and maple syrup until fluffy.
  9. Spread frosting over cooled blondies and slice into squares.
